Al Jazeera Fires Gaza Staff Amid US Lawsuit Alleging Hamas Ties
Al Jazeera has terminated the employment of 24 freelance journalists and staff members in the Gaza Strip. This action follows a lawsuit filed against the Qatar-based media network in the United States. The lawsuit, initiated in February 2025, was brought before a U.S. federal court by the Israeli legal organization Shurat HaDin, with support from StandWithUs, on behalf of victims of the October 7th attacks.
The plaintiffs allege that specific Al Jazeera operators and reporters named in the suit are members of Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad. Furthermore, the lawsuit claims that Al Jazeera itself provides financial support to these designated terrorist organizations.
