Al Jazeera Fires 24 Gaza Staff Amid U.S. Lawsuit Alleging Hamas Ties
Al Jazeera has terminated the employment of 24 journalists and staff members operating in the Gaza Strip. The dismissals come in the wake of a lawsuit filed against the Qatari network in the United States. The lawsuit accuses Al Jazeera of providing assistance to Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad.
The terminated employees are specifically named in the lawsuit, which was filed in February 2025 by the organization Shurat HaDin. The Israeli legal advocacy group was aided by the pro-Israel public relations organization StandWithUs in bringing the case. According to the lawsuit's claims, the Al Jazeera employees maintained connections with the designated terrorist organizations and allegedly operated within their ranks.
