Worker Dies, Nine Injured in Israeli Workplace Accidents This Week

One worker was killed and nine others were injured in workplace accidents across Israel over the past week. Of the injured, one sustained serious injuries and eight suffered moderate ones. Since the beginning of the year, 52 workers have died in workplace accidents, with 32 of those fatalities occurring in the construction sector.

The fatal incident occurred on Monday when Ramiz Halmi Katana, a 52-year-old from the village of Al-Nazla Al-Wusta in the Tulkarm district, fell approximately 15 meters from a roof while working in the village of Kafr Qara. His death was pronounced at the scene.

Also on Monday, a worker around 50 years old was seriously injured in Oranit after falling at work, sustaining chest and limb injuries. Another worker, approximately 35 years old, fell from scaffolding in Lod and was evacuated in moderate condition with abdominal injuries. A third worker, also around 35, fell from a height of one story at a construction site in Kiryat Motzkin and was taken to the hospital moderately injured. A worker in his 30s fell about four meters at a construction site near the Ganei Aviv neighborhood in Lod, suffering moderate chest and abdominal injuries.

Further incidents included an 18-year-old falling from a height while working in Safed on Tuesday, sustaining a back injury and being treated in moderate condition. A 46-year-old man, believed to be a worker, fell from a height in the Kadmat Galil Industrial Park and was taken to the hospital with moderate back injuries. On Wednesday, a 19-year-old worker was injured in the limbs at a Tel Aviv construction site and evacuated in moderate condition. On Thursday, a worker around 60 was injured in the legs at a factory in Be'erot Yitzhak and taken to the hospital moderately injured. Finally, on Friday, a worker around 40 was hit by a heavy object at a Tel Aviv-Yafo construction site, sustaining moderate chest and abdominal injuries.
