A basketball analyst has expressed surprise at the possibility of Hapoel Tel Aviv winning the EuroLeague, stating he "would not be surprised" if the team reached the Final Four and won the championship. The analyst, Dontas Urbonas, made these remarks during a podcast discussing the upcoming EuroLeague season, where he also outlined Hapoel Tel Aviv's worst-case scenario as reaching only the play-in tournament.
Urbonas also discussed Maccabi Tel Aviv's prospects, labeling them an "underdog" for the season. He suggested that Maccabi's best-case scenario involves avoiding injuries, playing well at home, and seeing significant improvements from key players like Jalen Hurd, who could play at an All-Season level, and Bonzie Colson returning to his previous form. Jimmy Clark is also predicted to be a breakout player for the team.
In a more pessimistic outlook for Maccabi Tel Aviv, Urbonas warned of potential injuries to Daniel Theis, a lack of improvement from Armando Bacot, and offensive struggles. Under such circumstances, he projected Maccabi could finish the season between 15th and 17th place in the league standings.
