Israir Launches New York to Israel Flights Under 10 Hours

Israir's inaugural flight from New York's JFK Airport to Ben Gurion Airport in Israel landed this morning, completing the journey in 9 hours and 45 minutes. The flight, which departed yesterday afternoon, was fully booked. This marks the launch of Israir's new transatlantic route, following approximately 18 months of preparation, including training crews and acquiring long-haul aircraft.

The flight duration can vary based on factors like flight direction, weather conditions, and altitude winds. Israir plans to increase the service on this route to three weekly flights starting next week. The airline also announced that its summer flight schedule for New York will go on sale on October 12, coinciding with Columbus Day in the United States.

Captain Yaron Mofaz described the flight as smooth and successful. The new route enters a competitive market, with existing direct flights between Israel and New York operated by airlines such as El Al, Arkia, United, and Delta. Israir's expansion adds another direct travel option for passengers between Tel Aviv and the New York area.
