Minister Shai Eli Shai Participates in Surf Therapy Event for IDF Veterans
Minister of Diaspora Affairs and Minister of Social Equality, Amichai Chikli, traded traditional New Year's gatherings for a surfboard this week, joining wounded Israel Defense Forces (IDF) veterans for a surfing session in Herzliya. The event was part of the annual surf therapy and community rehabilitation program organized by the "The Strong Ones Revealed" (HaChazakim Mitgalim) association at the Gazibo Club.
The association utilizes wave surfing and community activities to support wounded IDF soldiers. Chikli, a former company commander in the Egoz commando unit, met with the veterans and participated in the surfing activity. He remarked that while he attended numerous New Year's gatherings, this one was particularly special.
Chikli highlighted the significant reserve duty contributions of the participants, stating that those featured in a video from the event alone had accumulated approximately 15,000 days of reserve service, illustrating their dedication to the country. He concluded by expressing gratitude for the invitation, the association's vital work, and the honor of celebrating the new year with the veterans, whom he called "our heroes."
