Israeli Drone Successfully Fires Anti-Tank Missile at NATO Range

Israeli developers have achieved a significant milestone in unmanned aviation with the successful testing of a new heavy-lift drone. The Altus LSA Atlas 8 drone launched an Akeron MP anti-tank missile, produced by MBDA, during trials at a NATO range on the island of Crete, Greece. The test, reported by Israel Military, involved engaging targets beyond the line of sight, marking a new phase for the Kerveros strike platform.

The Kerveros platform is a collaborative development integrating the Atlas 8 heavy octocopter with advanced fifth-generation precision missiles. During the trials, the system demonstrated stable flight and accurate targeting in challenging conditions. Experts suggest such drone systems can enhance military operational flexibility across diverse terrains.

The Akeron MP missiles used in the test are notable for their ability to engage targets either before launch or with mid-flight trajectory correction. This capability allows for effective destruction of armored vehicles, fortified positions, and other tactical enemy targets with reduced risk to personnel. The successful completion of these tests in Greece paves the way for further integration of this complex into modern armed forces.
