Drunk Driver Charged with Manslaughter After Fatal Hit-and-Run

The State Prosecutor's Office has filed charges against Inbar Halon, a 36-year-old resident of Moshav Porat, for the negligent homicide of Amos Guetta, leaving the scene of an accident, drunk driving, and lane deviation. The prosecution is seeking to detain Halon until the end of legal proceedings and to revoke her driver's license.

According to the indictment, on September 5, 2026, Halon was driving north on Road 5535 near the entrance to Moshav Porat. She had consumed alcohol and was found to have a blood alcohol level of 177 mg per 100 ml, more than three times the legal limit. At the time, Amos Guetta, a resident of the moshav, was walking on the right shoulder of the road.

The indictment alleges that Halon veered right, leaving her lane and striking Guetta with the front right side of her BMW. Guetta was thrown to the side of the road and suffered severe head trauma, multiple fractures, and other injuries, with his death pronounced at the scene.

Following the collision, Halon, aware of the accident, drove home without stopping to assess the situation or call for help. She briefly stopped her car and exited for a few seconds before continuing home, where she was apprehended by police around 8:00 PM. The prosecution highlighted Halon's prior conviction for drunk driving, arguing her actions demonstrate a significant risk and a disregard for the consequences of her actions and the victim's well-being.

The indictment charges Halon with four offenses: negligent homicide, leaving the scene of an accident, drunk driving, and lane deviation.
