Crystal Palace Dominates Lech Poznan 3-0 in Europa League Opener
Crystal Palace began their Europa League campaign with a commanding 3-0 victory over Lech Poznan on Thursday. Israeli player Anan Khalaily made his debut for Palace, playing 62 minutes before being substituted. While Khalaily had a limited impact offensively and lost possession several times, he contributed defensively, successfully tackling opponents and earning applause from the crowd.
Palace controlled the match from the start. In the 10th minute, Jere Uronen capitalized on a defensive error by Terry Yegba to score the opening goal. Chris Richards extended the lead in the 27th minute with a header from an Adam Wharton corner. The lead grew further in the 34th minute when Uronen drew a penalty, which Jorgen Strand Larsen converted.
Lech Poznan was reduced to ten men late in the game after Radoslaw Murawski received a red card. Eddie Nketiah sealed the victory for Crystal Palace with a late goal, though an earlier fourth goal for Palace was disallowed by VAR due to offside.
Despite the loss, Lech Poznan's traveling fans provided impressive vocal support. Crystal Palace will next face Leeds in the league and then Lyon in their second Europa League fixture on October 15th.
