Smotrich Slams Evacuation of Settler Tents Near Majd al-Krum
Bezalel Smotrich, chairman of the Religious Zionism party, criticized the Jewish National Fund's (JNF) decision to evacuate settler tents erected near the Arab town of Majd al-Krum. Smotrich stated that "backing down in the face of Arab violence and occupation could explode in our faces."
The JNF's decision was made following intelligence warnings from the police and the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) about intentions to escalate violence and widespread nationalistic riots in the area. These concerns were heightened ahead of the Jewish holidays of Yom Kippur and Sukkot.
