Smotrich Slams 'Pro-Palestine' Chants in Galilee Town
Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich criticized "pro-Palestine" chants heard in the Galilee town of Majd al-Krum, linking them to a perceived loss of control and governance in the region. He stated that "the time has come to look directly at the real threat forming from the north and south," asserting that his party alone has a detailed plan to change the situation in the Negev and Galilee.
Smotrich also targeted Benny Gantz, leader of the National Unity party, claiming Gantz relies on Mansour Abbas, head of the United Arab List, and would therefore "allow Arabs to act without restrictions." Smotrich declared his party's intention to extend the "revolution" it leads in the West Bank to the Negev and Galilee.
The remarks came as residents of Majd al-Krum demonstrated near a settlement outpost established by "Hilltop Youth" on their village's land. Police and Border Guard units reportedly blocked access to the outpost, citing the need to prevent friction with settlers present in the area.
In response to the events, the Popular Committee in Majd al-Krum issued a statement declaring, "We stand united in defense of our lands and rights, and we will continue popular and legal action until this plan is overturned."
