Channel 14 Analyst Defends Eyal Golan's Absence from Memorial Event

A controversy erupted online following the announcement of artists participating in the national memorial ceremony for victims of the October 7th attacks, specifically due to the exclusion of singer Eyal Golan. Chen Ashur, a Channel 14 analyst and social media personality, fiercely criticized the organizers' decision, calling the country 'a nation of sycophants' in a furious social media post.

Ashur defended Golan's contributions since the war began, questioning the selection of other artists. She highlighted Golan's efforts, including hosting bereaved families at his shows, performing for soldiers, and inviting survivors of the Nova music festival and Hamas's attack to his office. "And who are they inviting to perform at the October 7th event? Ivri Lider, Gali Atari?" she asked.

While Ashur stated she had nothing personal against the selected performers, she reiterated her strong criticism of the ceremony's organizers. "But there is no more worthy person in this country who deserves admiration and appreciation for what he does for the bereaved families and for this whole thing called October 7th," she asserted.

Ashur further detailed Golan's ongoing support, noting he commemorates the events at every performance and consistently does good deeds. She suggested that most of the country recognizes the political motivations behind the decision, labeling those who invited the performers as "ass-kissers."

The memorial event, initiated by the "Komo" movement and families of the October 7th victims, is scheduled to take place at Park Ganei Yehoshua. It will be hosted by former hostage Eli Sharabi and actress Shani Cohen. Scheduled performers include Shlomo Artzi, Miri Mesika, Osher Cohen, Gali Atari, Ivri Lider, Eden Golan, Harel Skaat, Noam Botan, and Yuval Dayan.
