Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it is no longer bound by commitments related to keeping shipping lanes open. In a statement, the force announced that it will continue blocking the Strait of Hormuz for vessels linked to Israel and its supporters until further notice.
The IRGC said the move is part of what it called a legitimate right to defend regional security and to support the resistance. It warned that any attempt to violate the decision would be met forcefully.
The statement also placed responsibility for any consequences on Israel and the United States. No timeline was given for reopening the waterway, and the force said the restriction will remain in effect until further notice.
