Israel Honors Top Shin Bet Security Officials for Outstanding Achievements

Israel's President Isaac Herzog, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and Shin Bet Director David Barnea presented awards to 18 outstanding employees of the General Security Service (Shin Bet) on September 17th at the President's Residence in Jerusalem. The awards recognized achievements in intelligence and security throughout 2025. The honorees, a mix of experienced and junior staff, were praised for their exceptional performance and dedication to the organization's values.

Among those recognized were an employee from the counter-espionage unit for significant intelligence gathering, a Southern District coordinator who expanded his agent network, a commander in the cyber operations unit who led tactical and strategic missions, and personnel from special operations and other departments. Shin Bet Director David Barnea addressed the ongoing operations against Hamas militants involved in the October 7th massacre, stating, "To those who planned this massacre, to those who carried it out, to all who had a hand in trampling the dignity of the State of Israel and spilling the blood of its citizens, and to all who wish for our destruction, we send one unequivocal message: there is no place in the world that is too far for us. There will be no forgiveness for you, and this crime has no statute of limitations. We pursued you, we are pursuing you, and we will pursue you to the last participant."

Prime Minister Netanyahu highlighted the prevention of over a thousand terrorist attacks in Judea and Samaria, attributing these successes to the work of the Shin Bet and other security agencies. He also commented on the Gaza operation, stating that Israel is settling accounts with the remaining Hamas murderers from the October 7th attack. Netanyahu reiterated Israel's commitment to dismantling Hamas and overthrowing the Iranian regime, vowing to deal with Hezbollah as well. He commended the Shin Bet's excellence, particularly in technological advancements and operations in Gaza and Judea and Samaria.

President Herzog emphasized the importance of critical and creative thinking within the Shin Bet, urging employees to question assumptions and avoid groupthink. He also underscored the service's crucial role in safeguarding Israel's democratic process, especially during the ongoing election period, and expressed confidence in their professional execution of this sensitive task in cooperation with the Central Elections Committee and police.
