Elderly Man Stabbed En Route to Synagogue for Selichot Prayers

A 66-year-old man was stabbed on his way to attend Selichot prayers, a pre-Rosh Hashanah penitential service, in the central Israeli city of Ramle. The incident occurred as the man was walking to a synagogue on Tuesday night. He sustained moderate injuries and was evacuated to Shamir Medical Center (Assaf Harofeh) for treatment. Police have launched an investigation into the stabbing and are searching for the assailant. The motive for the attack is currently unknown. The victim was reportedly on his way to join the Selichot services, which are traditionally recited in the days leading up to the High Holy Days.
