Eisenkot Criticizes Bennett, Liberman for Damaging Coalition Chances

Gadi Eisenkot, chairman of the Yesh Atid party, has sharply criticized Naftali Bennett, leader of the Yamina party, and Avigdor Liberman, head of Yisrael Beiteinu, accusing them of "damaging the bloc's chances of winning." In a Channel 12 interview, Eisenkot stated that both leaders err by refusing to establish foundational principles for selecting a prime ministerial candidate. He argued that their approach, suggesting a decision would be made informally after the election, is unacceptable.

Eisenkot also commented on the current political landscape, noting that the "bloc is organized as it has not been in previous elections" due to the presence of "four homogeneous parties." He believes Bennett and Liberman misunderstand the current bloc's dynamics.

Yisrael Beiteinu responded to Eisenkot's remarks, demanding clarity on his post-election alliances. The party asserted that Liberman prioritizes experience over ego and advises against showing pressure. They reiterated their commitment to forming a Zionist government without Benjamin Netanyahu, Arab parties, or Haredi parties, which would pass a universal conscription law and establish a state inquiry commission as a first act.

The party emphasized the importance of strengthening the "serving bloc" and forming a stable government, urging Eisenkot to clarify his potential partners. A recent Channel 13 poll indicated Yesh Atid as the largest party with 22 seats, while Prime Minister Netanyahu and the Likud party reached a record low of 18 seats. Despite the Likud's decline, Netanyahu's bloc is shown to have a lead over Eisenkot's bloc.
