Eisenkot Slams Netanyahu's Circle Over Conspiracy Theories

Gadi Eisenkot, leader of the "Yashar!" party, has accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's inner circle of promoting conspiracy theories to explain the failures leading up to the October 7th attacks. Eisenkot stated that this narrative is an attempt to rationalize the most significant failure in Israel's history since its founding.

Speaking at a ynet conference, Eisenkot addressed the controversy surrounding Sara Netanyahu, who was previously accused of spreading conspiracy theories about the October 7th events. "Netanyahu's circle is promoting a conspiracy theory to explain how the biggest failure since the founding of the state happened," Eisenkot said. He quoted Netanyahu as saying, "It's not treason, it's a failure. It's much more than a failure. It's deep negligence that happened on his watch."

Eisenkot further asserted that Netanyahu believes he can manipulate public opinion, citing past instances and current actions by his associates. "He thinks he can manipulate the consciousness of Israeli citizens. We saw how he did it in Bild, he's doing it now, his circle is doing it and promoting it," Eisenkot stated.

Earlier at the same conference, Avigdor Lieberman, leader of "Yisrael Beiteinu," declared he would not ally with Eisenkot. Lieberman criticized Eisenkot's perceived ambiguity regarding potential participation in a government led by Netanyahu and the issue of exempting 4,500 ultra-Orthodox men from military service. "Unlike him, I speak clearly. He has a vague position, for me that is unacceptable," Lieberman explained, referencing Eisenkot's refusal to rule out joining Netanyahu's government.
