Gadi Eisenkot Accuses Netanyahu's Circle of Fostering Conspiracy Theories

Gadi Eisenkot, chairman of the National Unity Party, stated on Wednesday that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's inner circle is promoting conspiracy theories to explain the failures leading up to the October 7th attacks. Eisenkot argued that these theories aim to downplay the severity of the events, which he described as "deep negligence" occurring under Netanyahu's watch, rather than a mere failure. He accused Netanyahu of attempting to manipulate public perception, a tactic he claimed the Prime Minister has employed before and is now using through his associates.

Eisenkot's remarks were made at the "Winnet" conference, where he also addressed the controversy surrounding Sara Netanyahu's alleged dissemination of conspiracy theories about October 7th. He emphasized that the situation was more than just a failure, suggesting a deliberate effort to obscure the truth.

Earlier at the same conference, Yisrael Beiteinu chairman Avigdor Lieberman definitively stated he would not unite with Eisenkot. Lieberman cited Eisenkot's "ambiguous position" regarding potential alliances and his refusal to rule out sitting with Netanyahu as unacceptable. Lieberman also expressed his intention to dissuade Eisenkot from considering a coalition with Netanyahu and from supporting an exemption from military service for 4,500 Haredi men.
