Knesset Election Committee Opens Registration for Vote Counting Operations
The Central Elections Committee for the 26th Knesset has opened registration for various positions involved in counting votes from "double envelopes," also known as external envelopes, and other operations related to the upcoming election day. The application period will remain open until Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 4:00 PM, at which point the registration system will close. The process of counting these external ballots is described as critical for ensuring election integrity and determining the final results.
This crucial vote-counting operation will take place in a secure, sterile environment within the Knesset building in Jerusalem. It is scheduled to commence on election day, Tuesday, October 27, 2026, and continue through Thursday, October 29, 2026. The work will be conducted in round-the-clock shifts, including overnight shifts.
Interested candidates must apply exclusively online via a provided link. As part of the application process, candidates will be invited for a personal interview, which is a prerequisite for further consideration and placement in election day roles. A dedicated telephone hotline has been established to answer public inquiries regarding applications and provide additional information. The hotline is available Sunday through Thursday, between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
Eligibility requirements for applicants include being at least 18 years old on the day of application, although certain positions may require applicants to be 21 or older. Full proficiency in Hebrew is mandatory. Additionally, applicants must not have been members of any political party or participated in party activities for the three years preceding the election.
