MK Zvi Sukkot Slams Ex-Military Chiefs Over Knesset Candidacy Challenge

Member of Knesset Zvi Sukkot released a video statement fiercely criticizing a petition filed to disqualify him from running in the upcoming Knesset elections. Sukkot highlighted that the petition was submitted by two former high-ranking military officials: one who served as Chief of Staff and Defense Minister, and another who commanded the elite Sayeret Matkal unit and served as Minister of Internal Security.

Sukkot addressed the specific claims made against him in the petition. He referenced his visit to the Palestinian town of Huwara in 2023, following the murder of Hillel and Yagel Yaniv, stating he went to demand increased security in the area after the two Israelis were killed. He also mentioned contacting the Foreign Minister after the October 7th Hamas attacks regarding international media coverage of settler violence, and a bill he promoted to prevent terror supporters from running for Knesset.

Concluding his remarks, Sukkot expressed strong disapproval of the petitioners, stating he would not trust them to walk his dog. He accused them of identifying with the enemy while previously being responsible for Israel's security, calling their involvement in the disqualification effort a "manifest miracle."
