Yair Golan Urges Left-Wing Bloc to Unite Ahead of Elections

Yair Golan, chairman of the "Democrats" party, has made a public appeal for unity within the left-wing bloc, urging party leaders to cease internal conflicts and work together towards upcoming elections. Golan posted on his X account (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, calling for an end to infighting, stating, "We must not attack each other. The musical chairs game is not important, the country is." He emphasized the need to focus on the nation's well-being over personal ambitions.

Golan's call for reconciliation comes amidst escalating tensions and a struggle for leadership within the opposition bloc. The primary conflict appears to be between Gadi Eisenkot, Naftali Bennett, and Avigdor Lieberman, who are vying for the top position and the candidacy for prime minister. Golan expressed his willingness to step aside, stating, "I have already given up, now it's your turn," in an effort to encourage others to do the same and unite behind a single candidate.

He urged the bloc to focus on increasing voter turnout and working collaboratively to secure a victory. The appeal follows reports of a meeting between Bennett and Lieberman, where they reportedly discussed strategies to strengthen the bloc and attract undecided right-wing voters. While sources close to them denied the meeting was intended to isolate Eisenkot, it has reportedly heightened tensions and suspicion within the camp.
