Zeljko Obradovic is set to become Panathinaikos' next coach, according to a report by Serbian outlet Telesport. The 66-year-old Serbian legend has reportedly signed a three-year contract worth a total of 10.5 million euros, or 3.5 million euros per season.
Obradovic is returning to the Greek club where he enjoyed the greatest success of his coaching career. He first joined Panathinaikos in 1999 and stayed for 13 years, winning 11 Greek league titles, seven Greek Cups and five EuroLeague, European Champions Cup titles.
He left Partizan Belgrade in December after four years in charge. Before that, he coached Fenerbahce for seven years, winning four Turkish championships and one EuroLeague title.
Across his career, Obradovic has won nine European Champions Cup titles in total, including with Partizan, Joventut Badalona and Real Madrid. The report says the emotional European basketball comeback is now taking shape.
