Trump Believes Iran Conflict Nearing End, Plans Gulf Leaders Meeting

U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Wednesday night that he believes the conflict with Iran is nearing its end and that Tehran is "desperate" for a deal with Washington. "I hope we are nearing the end of the war. Iran very much wants to make a deal," Trump told White House reporters, adding that contacts with Iranian officials have been "direct."

Amid these statements, Trump is scheduled to meet with leaders of Gulf states next week on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York. The meeting will focus on discussing the next steps in the conflict with Iran, according to a report by Channel 12.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also expressed interest in meeting with President Trump, though no date has been set. A Saudi source close to the royal family previously revealed deep frustration in the Kingdom over the U.S. stance and a growing sense of helplessness, suggesting that a lack of a strong American policy allows the Houthis to expand their influence unchecked.

In parallel, the Trump administration is preparing to approve a $2.8 billion arms deal for Israel, which includes 40,000 bombs weighing approximately 900 kilograms each. The Washington Post reported this as the largest single deal for this type of munition for Israel in recent years.
