New Housing Project Approved for Kiryat Yam Near Haifa

Israel's National Planning and Building Committee has approved a major urban renewal project in Kiryat Yam, a city near Haifa. The "Shapira" complex plan aims to provide diverse housing solutions and will see the construction of 1,171 new housing units, replacing 257 existing ones. The new development will feature nine-story buildings along the coastline and towers reaching up to 35 stories. Approximately 30% of the new units will be small apartments.

The project spans about 35 dunams (approximately 8.6 acres) and is situated directly on the sea, bordered by Pinhas Sapir Boulevard to the west and Moshe Sharett Street to the north. It also includes the creation of two new streets connecting Shapira and Yeshayahu streets to Sapir Boulevard. The plan incorporates a new school in the center of the complex, designed for optimal integration with the street network, and public open spaces within each residential block.

This development follows the approval of another urban renewal project, "Yoseftal," in the same city. Kiryat Yam is located adjacent to Haifa in northern Israel.
