Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife Sara Netanyahu participated in a cornerstone-laying ceremony for a monument honoring martyrs from the Arabic-speaking Christian community. The event took place in the Lavie Forest, near the Golani Junction.
Speaking at the ceremony on August 16, 2026, the Prime Minister strongly criticized international criticism directed at Israel. He stated that a large-scale campaign is underway against Israel and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), alleging that opponents falsely accuse Israeli soldiers of war crimes and persecution of minorities.
