Singer Lior Elmaliach Releases New Song Inspired by October 7

Israeli singer Lior Elmaliach has released a new single titled "Hoshanah Rabbah," featuring lyrics by David Monsonego and musical arrangement and production by Chen Harari. The song was created in response to the events of October 7 and the ongoing hostage crisis, serving as a prayer of faith, remembrance, and hope.

"Hoshanah Rabbah" is part of the album "Shirat David," a project where Monsonego provides lyrics for various artists to perform. Elmaliach joins a list of previous collaborators including Uzi Fox, David Zakai, and Meital Trablesi. This is the second song Monsonego has written following the October 7 massacre; the first, "A Child's Dream," was produced with the participation of families evacuated from the Gaza border communities.

Monsonego explained his choice of Elmaliach for this particular song, stating that he envisioned the hostages clinging to faith and felt Elmaliach's performance would imbue the lyrics with the necessary power and conviction. The creators chose to release the song now to connect its themes of faith and remembrance with the current period of introspection and atonement, while also honoring the memory of October 7 and the ongoing war.

The song's release coincides with the approach of the three-year mark since the October 7th events, emphasizing its connection to the national trauma and the ongoing efforts for the return of hostages.
