Herzog Reveals Details of Pre-October 7th Call with UAE President

President Isaac Herzog revealed on Thursday the content of a conversation he had with UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed several months before the October 7th Hamas attack. Herzog stated in an interview with Kan 11 that bin Zayed expressed concern about the situation in Israel during their discussion. Herzog clarified that the conversation was not in the context of any specific warning about an impending attack, though he suggested a concrete warning might have been given to the Prime Minister.

Herzog further recounted that bin Zayed discussed the judicial reform in Israel, which he believed was tearing Israeli society apart. According to Herzog, bin Zayed told him, "Your attempts to manage dialogue and mediation at the President's Residence are saving your country." The UAE president emphasized the importance of Israel's stability due to its role as a partner in the Abraham Accords.

This revelation comes against the backdrop of a Haaretz newspaper report alleging that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu received a direct warning about a week and a half before October 7th, indicating that Hamas leader Sinwar was planning a "major move" against Israel. Netanyahu has completely denied this report and announced his intention to sue the newspaper.
