US Envoy: Iran War Driven by American Interests, Not Just Israel's Security

U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckaby has challenged the notion that American involvement in the confrontation with Iran is primarily to protect Israel, stating that U.S. actions are driven by American national interests. Huckaby emphasized that Iran poses an independent threat to the United States, citing decades of Iranian opposition and threats to American interests, including specific threats against President Donald Trump. He asserted that Washington's stance against Tehran is not solely linked to Israel's security.

Despite this distinction, Huckaby underscored the robust strategic partnership between the U.S. and Israel. This alliance encompasses intelligence sharing, military cooperation, missile defense, and arms sales. Notably, components for Israel's Iron Dome and Arrow 3 missile defense systems are manufactured in the U.S., and a significant portion of American military aid to Israel is used to purchase American defense equipment.

Huckaby also dismissed the idea that Israel could unilaterally draw the Trump administration into a conflict. He stated that he had witnessed U.S.-Israeli leadership negotiations and that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu does not dictate President Trump's decisions regarding Iran. This comes after a previous report by "Cursor" indicated an Arab nation was considering a review of its relations with Israel.
