Senior Gideon Unit Officer Denies 'Rebellion' Amidst Tensions with National Security Minister Ben-Gvir

A senior officer in the Gideon Unit, a special police force, has addressed internal rumors of a "rebellion" against National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, stating that his unit is not involved in any such actions and wishes to focus on its duties.

The officer wrote to his subordinates in a private group chat, "We will not start any rebellion. Let us do what we do best in peace." He clarified that the "media chaos and conflicts between the spokesperson's office and Minister Ben-Gvir are not interesting to us at all, and we certainly have not started any 'rebellion.'"

Reports indicate that the officer was responding to claims that funds allocated for improving the unit's infrastructure and service conditions had been frozen. He acknowledged that the unit's conditions are "not ideal" and that there are "difficulties," but stressed that "things were taken out of context." He specifically refuted a claim that the minister is no longer welcome to visit the unit, calling it "fake news."

The statement comes amid ongoing friction between Police Commissioner Danny Levi and Minister Ben-Gvir, which has reportedly led to a freeze on certain funds intended for the Gideon Unit.
