Actress Rotem Zisman Cohen Returns to Screen in New Conversion Film

Actress Rotem Zisman Cohen is set to return to acting after an extended hiatus, starring in a new film titled "HaOleh" (The Convert). The film, directed by Eliran Eliya, will feature Zisman Cohen playing Tzvia, a dedicated and experienced conversion teacher guiding immigrants on their path to Judaism. Tzvia is depicted as a character who balances deep commitment to Halakha (Jewish law) with compassion, patience, and empathy for the individuals she assists.

Zisman Cohen had stepped away from the spotlight in recent years, embracing a religious lifestyle and focusing on raising her children with her husband, actor Maurice Cohen. She previously expressed in an interview with mako's "Spill It" that the industry had become tiresome and exhausting for her at one point. Her role as Tzvia marks a significant comeback to the screen.

Director Eliran Eliya, also a screenwriter, is known for his previous works such as "Motelim Besfek" and "Ha'ir Ha'tova." Eliya recently joined the "Yashar" party led by Gadi Eisenkot. Notably, Eliya, who also chairs the Directors Guild of Israel, recently faced scrutiny from the Likud party following a statement of support he issued on behalf of the organization for creators of "Nez'a."
