Omer Cohen Reimagines a Hebrew Classic for 'Checkout: The Movie' With Ramzi in the Clip
Singer-songwriter Omer Cohen has been chosen to perform the official theme song for the summer’s big local hit, "Checkout: The Movie". The song is "Zan Nadir" ("A Rare Kind"), one of Israeli music’s most beloved classics. It was written by Meir Goldberg and originally composed by the late Corinne Allal, who died about two years ago. Cohen handled the new arrangement and musical production together with Lidor Ayish.
The new version is accompanied by a special music video that also features Ramzi Abd Ramzi, played by Amir Shurush, described in the article as Israel’s most in-demand backing singer and the most diligent employee at the Yavne branch of the supermarket chain "Shfa Issachar." The movie includes all the stars of the hit Kan 11 series, "Checkout."
The film opens on Wednesday, June 17, timed to coincide with Israeli Cinema Day. On that day, audiences will be able to watch it for 10 shekels in theaters across Israel before regular screenings begin. The following day, Thursday, June 18, Cohen is scheduled to continue with a major concert at Ramat Gan Stadium.
