Israel Accuses UN of Anti-Israel Narrative Ahead of General Assembly

Israel's Ministry of Diaspora Affairs and Combatting Antisemitism has launched a new international campaign and website exposing what it calls a "clear anti-Israel narrative" propagated by the United Nations since the October 7th Hamas attacks. The campaign, timed to coincide with the upcoming UN General Assembly in New York, aims to reveal the UN's alleged "information manipulation mechanism" against Israel.

The new website compiles UN publications and actions since October 7th, alleging that UN bodies have distorted information, fostered a hostile organizational culture, and presented false data regarding the situation in Gaza, including claims of "genocide" and "famine." The campaign targets journalists, diplomats, and decision-makers in the United States, urging them to examine the sources presented on the site.

The website is divided into six sections: "Information Manipulation," detailing how UN actors adopt and spread claims while omitting crucial context; "Toxic Institutional Culture," describing how one-sided anti-Israel stances become entrenched; "The Famine That Wasn't," challenging UN data and messaging on hunger in Gaza; "UNRWA Compromised," presenting intelligence on Hamas infiltration into the agency and its infrastructure; "Manufacturing a Genocide Narrative," analyzing the formulation and dissemination of accusations against Israel; and "Self-Reinforcing Ecosystem," illustrating how claims gain authority through UN channels, a process described as "Propaganda Laundering."

As part of the campaign, the ministry released testimonies from alleged senior UN officials and experts. One WHO representative reportedly stated that terms like "genocide" and "famine" were predetermined, with organizations then attempting to prove them. The UN's Special Advisor on the Prevention of Genocide, Alice Wairimu Nderitu, is quoted as saying she faced daily harassment and pressure, noting the "focus was always on Israel" unlike other conflicts. The UN Special Rapporteur on Torture, Dr. Alice Edwards, also reportedly documented intense pressure from colleagues to prevent her from publishing a letter detailing Hamas's October 7th atrocities.
