Aviv Geffen Slams Documentary 'Nezah' Over Portrayal of IDF

Singer and songwriter Aviv Geffen has launched a strong social media attack against Israeli filmmaker Yuval Abraham, the director of the documentary film 'Nezah.' Geffen's criticism, posted on Instagram, addresses the heavy toll on Israeli civilians and soldiers since the October 7th attacks, and takes a firm stance against criticism directed at the security establishment, which has been resonating at international festivals.

"I sang at the graves of entire families that were slaughtered, and soldiers who died because they upheld the purity of arms," Geffen wrote. "They will no longer get to applaud Yuval Abraham's film. They were found with their hands tied," he added, referencing the film's subject matter and the fate of some victims.

Geffen's remarks join a growing public outcry in Israel surrounding the film, which recently won an award at the Venice Film Festival. Geffen, once a prominent voice of protest in Israel, has adopted a more patriotic stance since the outbreak of the war, frequently performing for soldiers on bases, at funerals, and memorial days, expressing support for fighters and bereaved families.
