Israeli Influencers Slam Director of Controversial 'Nezah' Documentary

Model and social media influencer Maya Key, along with several other Israeli celebrities, have publicly criticized Yuval Abraham, the director of the documentary film 'Nezah' (No Other Land). The film, which won an award at the Venice Film Festival, has sparked significant controversy in Israel for its alleged claims against the IDF. Senior military officials, including the Chief of Staff and the IDF spokesperson, have condemned the film, and Culture Minister Miki Zohar called for the creators' citizenship to be revoked.

In response to the backlash, Abraham spoke out in an interview, expressing fear about his ability to return to Israel and stating, "Israel is my home." He questioned what he would do if he could not return, revealing he had deleted his social media accounts due to the pressure. However, his concerns did not resonate with prominent Israeli public figures.

Key responded to a post quoting Abraham's remarks with a single word: "Fear." Other influencers joined the criticism. Media personality Korin Gideon sarcastically commented, "That sounds like boo hoo hoo to me." Yarden Edri, a former "Big Brother" contestant, suggested Abraham's next project should be filming "a day in the life of Osama bin Laden."

During his interview, Abraham was asked why he did not include videos of Hamas kidnappings from the October 7th attacks. He explained that the film focuses on the events of October 7th and presents testimonies from 24 soldiers about difficult actions. Abraham also admitted that the soldiers interviewed had not seen the final cut of the film before giving their testimonies, and there was no condition for them to do so.
