Reality Star Defends Gaza Film Creators, Slams Israel as 'Murderous'

Reality television personality Uriel Yekutiel, known for his appearance on "The Amazing Race," has publicly defended the creators of the film "Nezah," which has sparked controversy in Israel. Yekutiel expressed strong support for the filmmakers, calling their work a courageous act in the face of Israel's actions in Gaza.

Responding to a critical song by lyricist Noam Horev about the film and its creators, Yekutiel stated that the filmmakers possess moral and psychological courage that Horev lacks. He accused critics of the film of indifference to the ongoing violence and occupation in Gaza, suggesting their criticism stems from an inability to reconcile their conscience with Israel's policies.

Yekutiel further argued that Israelis who oppose the country's policies toward Palestinians face severe personal and professional repercussions. He asserted that opposing these policies is the opposite of seeking favor with international audiences, describing it as self-imposed isolation and a struggle against a constant tide of hatred.

The reality star then launched a personal attack on Horev, criticizing his songwriting and accusing him of being out of touch with the reality faced by those who challenge the status quo. Yekutiel described Horev as being at the "center of the center of the center of culture," surrounded by admiration, yet choosing to belittle the filmmakers.

Yekutiel's strong statements come amid significant backlash in Israel against "Nezah," a film by Yuval Avraham and Rachel Shore that won a jury prize at the Venice Film Festival. The film presents difficult testimonies and claims regarding the IDF's operations in the Gaza Strip.
