Haifa Man Indicted for Brutal Assault on Wife Before Children
A 49-year-old Haifa resident has been indicted on serious charges including severe assault and threats against his wife, in an incident that occurred in front of their minor children. The indictment, filed by the Zvulun police station's prosecution unit, follows intensive investigations by the Haifa police.
The alleged assault took place on September 6th, when the man reportedly used a cellphone charger cable to beat his wife, causing bruises and lacerations across her body. The incident occurred within the family home in Haifa, with their children present.
Following the report, security forces arrested the suspect. His detention was extended multiple times by the court as investigations and evidence gathering continued. The indictment includes charges of assault causing severe bodily harm and direct threats to kill.
Police are seeking to extend his detention until the completion of judicial proceedings. Chief Inspector Keren Avitan of the Haifa police's domestic violence division stated that the incident was handled with "firmness and high professionalism" from the outset, emphasizing the investigators' diligent work in building a strong case. She added that the Haifa station will continue to "work relentlessly against domestic crimes to protect victims and bring perpetrators to justice for deterrent punishment."
