Shufersal to Build Major Commercial Center Near IDF Training Base

Shufersal's real estate arm, Laro Real Estate, has secured a 20-dunam plot in the Ramat Negev Regional Council for the development of a commercial, employment, and tourism center. The company won the Israel Land Authority tender for the land, paying NIS 25 million. The site is adjacent to the "City of Training Bases" (Bahad 1), a major IDF training complex, and has an approved urban building plan for a 16,000-square-meter commercial and employment hub.

Shufersal plans to invest a total of NIS 100 million in the project, which will feature a Shufersal supermarket alongside fashion stores, restaurants, and cafes. The center is expected to cater primarily to travelers on Highway 40, which leads to Eilat and the Ramon Crater, as well as local residents and military personnel stationed at the nearby training base.

Ramat Negev is Israel's largest regional council by area, and Shufersal views this project as a strategic real estate opportunity. This acquisition follows two other recent purchases by Shufersal Real Estate last month: a 50% stake in the Kordani complex in Kiryat Motzkin for NIS 85 million, increasing their ownership to 100%, and a 2,700-square-meter commercial center under construction in the Havatzelet HaSharon neighborhood, purchased from the Sharbat brothers for NIS 69 million, which will also include a Shufersal branch.
