Eilat Youth Train for IDF Combat Unit Selection Day
Fifty-four high school juniors and seniors from Eilat participated in a special training session on the city's northern beach on Tuesday, preparing for the upcoming Israel Defense Forces (IDF) "Day of the Patrols" (Yom Sayarot). This event is a significant step for those aspiring to combat roles.
The training was led by the "Eilat Enlists" preparation center, which supports Eilat's youth before and during their military service. The session focused on physical and mental conditioning, building personal resilience, and coping with challenges, aiming to equip candidates for the selection days scheduled for October and January.
Lieutenant Colonel (Res.) Tal Iglitzky, director of "Eilat Enlists," emphasized that the preparation extends beyond physical fitness, fostering resilience, self-confidence, and the ability to perform under pressure. "We accompany Eilat's youth throughout their journey, providing them with the tools to be as prepared as possible for meaningful service," he stated.
"Eilat Enlists" is a municipal center for IDF preparation, operated by the Eilat Municipality in cooperation with the IDF and the Ministry of Defense. It offers guidance, support, and individual and group counseling to pre-enlistees and soldiers from their preparation phase through their service.
The center engages youth from 10th grade onwards through various activities, including school presentations, workshops for students and parents, collaborations with local IDF bases, a pre-enlistment week, preparation days for significant service and pre-military academies, "On the Trail of Warriors" days, simulations for the initial enlistment process, and exposure seminars for officer and elite unit tracks. Eilat also organizes a unified enlistment process, including transportation for initial enlistment appointments, with some enlistment procedures conducted locally.
This initiative is spearheaded by the Eilat Municipality's Education Department, in collaboration with school principals, as part of a city-wide effort to encourage meaningful IDF enlistment and quality service.
