Police Officer Films Bullet Ejecting From Gun After Arrest
Police officers in the northern district, along with Border Police special forces, apprehended a young man in Sakhnin on August 28, 2026, shortly after he allegedly fired shots at a residential home and a vehicle. The suspect, who was wearing a helmet and gloves, attempted to flee the scene on an electric scooter. Upon spotting a police vehicle, he stopped the scooter, discarded a handgun, and tried to escape on foot, but was apprehended within minutes.
The discarded handgun was found to be loaded with ammunition and, crucially, had a live round in the chamber, ready to fire. A police officer, documenting the arrest, filmed the moment he safely unloaded the weapon after removing the magazine, capturing the live round ejecting from the barrel. This footage highlighted the immediate danger posed by the weapon.
The suspect, a 23-year-old resident of Sakhnin, was subsequently arrested. The Northern District Police and the National Guard, who were conducting widespread operations to prevent shooting incidents and crime in the city at the time, responded swiftly to the gunfire reported around 2:00 AM.
Following the investigation, the Haifa District Prosecutor's Office filed an indictment against the suspect at the Haifa District Court. A request has also been made to detain him until the legal proceedings are concluded.
