Maccabi Tel Aviv Pursues Return of EuroLeague Games to Israel

Maccabi Tel Aviv is intensifying preparations for its Super Cup game against Hapoel Tel Aviv on Thursday, with the team holding its final practice and participating in the official press conference. Concurrently, club leadership is actively working with the EuroLeague to bring the competition's games back to Israel. Club Chairman Shimon Mizrahi, accompanied by professional manager Claudio Coldebella, will travel to Abu Dhabi this weekend for a meeting with EuroLeague CEO Dejan Bodiroga. The meeting, taking place during the EuroLeague Super Cup tournament in the UAE, will focus on persuading Bodiroga and other league officials to allow games to resume in Israel.

Maccabi has provided the EuroLeague with letters from the Israeli President, Minister of Sports, and Police Commissioner, assuring the league of the complete calm prevailing in Israel in recent months and offering security guarantees for participating teams. If these efforts do not yield immediate results, Mizrahi plans to engage further at a EuroLeague owners' meeting in Lake Como, Italy, starting October 5. This meeting is also expected to include a proposal from the NBA regarding the acquisition of the league.

Maccabi expresses a degree of optimism about the eventual return of games to Israel, though they acknowledge that the initial one or two months of the season will likely not be played domestically.
