Prisoner Accused in Boyfriend's Murder Transferred Amidst Disciplinary Issues

Prisoner of War Commissioner, Major General Kobi Yaacobi, has ordered the urgent transfer of Agam Zarfati from Neve Tirtza women's prison to Abu Kabir detention facility. Zarfati is accused of involvement in the murder of her former partner, Binyamin Razi.

The decision stems from Zarfati's conduct during her detention, including altercations with other inmates and prison staff. This move follows a previous decision two weeks ago by the Israel Prison Service to separate Zarfati from her friend, Shilat Huta, who is also accused in the case. The two had shared a cell at Neve Tirtza until Huta was moved to a different facility.

The case involves the murder of Binyamin Razi in an Airbnb apartment in Jerusalem's Nachlaot neighborhood. According to the indictment, Zarfati and Huta are accused of involvement in the fatal incident alongside other defendants.

Meanwhile, legal proceedings continue. During a hearing this week at the Jerusalem District Court, the defense attorneys for both women argued that there is insufficient evidence to charge them with murder. Agam Zarfati's lawyer, Omri Stern, contended that his client lacked the capacity to foresee the events escalating to murder and did not intend for Razi to die. Similarly, Shilat Huta's lawyer, Amit Weitzman, argued that even if Huta knew others were armed, it does not prove she anticipated a murder. Stern claimed Zarfati could not have understood the events would lead to murder and did not intend for Razi to die.
