Israeli Defense Minister Defends Gaza Policy Amidst Criticism

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has responded to criticism regarding the country's policy in the Gaza Strip, asserting that critics lack up-to-date information on the situation on the ground. The Ministry of Defense released details about the current conditions in the enclave, stating that Rafah and most of Gaza are currently empty as the military dismantles underground tunnels and remaining structures.

IDF units are positioned on a "yellow line" in dozens of strongholds, completely encircling the remaining parts of the Gaza Strip. This security zone is intended to protect Israeli communities and facilitate the elimination of militants and neutralization of threats, all within the framework of an existing ceasefire agreement. The ministry highlighted that this agreement has led to the release of all hostages, a paramount concern for Israeli society.

According to the Ministry of Defense, the agreement also includes commitments from the United States and mediating countries to disarm Hamas and dismantle its underground infrastructure. The army is reportedly prepared to resume active combat operations immediately upon orders to completely destroy Hamas and execute further plans.

Katz emphasized that criticism from former officials is based on outdated security perceptions and ignores the country's achievements. He stated that such declarations do not reflect the actual situation and raise serious concerns about long-term security scenarios for the state.
