Defense Minister Katz Slams Ex-General Winter Over Gaza War Criticism

Defense Minister Israel Katz launched a sharp attack on Ofer Winter, chairman of the 'Amcha Yisrael' party and a retired brigadier general, following Winter's criticism of the government's handling of the war in Gaza. Katz stated Winter is "not updated," asserting that Rafah and 70% of Gaza are empty of residents, tunnels are being destroyed, and homes demolished. He claimed the IDF occupies dozens of positions around the remaining 30% of Gaza, creating an unprecedented security zone that protects Israeli communities and eliminates terrorists weekly.

Katz further argued that this operation is occurring within the framework of a "ceasefire" that led to the release of all hostages, a value he described as "supreme" for all Israelis. He added that the US and allied nations are committed to disarming Hamas and destroying its tunnels, though he acknowledged this outcome is unlikely. Katz emphasized that the IDF is prepared to eliminate Hamas and complete the mission if given the directive, which would also enable the implementation of an "immigration plan."

He characterized Winter's criticism as "perverted" and similar to that of former officials and studio commentators with "outdated security concepts" who ignore facts and achievements in Iran, Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria to attack the government. Katz concluded that "the people of Israel do not need more of this product, and it is very worrying regarding future scenarios."

Winter, who leads 'Amcha Yisrael,' recently publicly criticized the government, stating it has not achieved a "clear decision in Gaza."
