Ex-Microsoft Executive Joins Board of Israeli Cyber Firm NewCore
Israeli cybersecurity company NewCore has appointed Joy Chik, a former Microsoft executive specializing in identity and network access, to its board of directors. NewCore, with offices in Tel Aviv and San Francisco, develops an advanced infrastructure platform for managing and securing identities and permissions for employees, systems, and AI agents within organizations.
The company was founded in 2025 by CEO Zohar Alon, a co-founder of Dome9 which Check Point acquired for $175 million; Amichai Neiderman, founder of Nym and former senior security researcher in Unit 8200; and Erez Yarkoni, former CIO of T-Mobile and Telstra.
Chik joins NewCore after a 28-year tenure at Microsoft, where her last role was president of identity and network access. She left Microsoft in April and also serves on the board of PayPal. NewCore recently completed a $66 million funding round in June, emerging from stealth mode. This funding included a $16 million pre-seed round led by Index and Cyberstarts, and an extended seed round totaling $66 million, led by Evolution Equity Partners with participation from prominent angel investors in the cyber industry.
"Investors understand that we can go all the way here. We don't want to be a target for a quick company sale, and the funds support this," stated Zohar Alon after the June funding completion. "At the current pace, we have enough in the bank to ensure four years of operational stability. We are a different kind of entity, our goal is to challenge giants like Microsoft and Okta."
