Hostage Survivor Slams Yair Golan Over 'Nezha' Film Comparison

Rom Braslavski, a former hostage, has sharply criticized Yair Golan, the chairman of the "Democrats" party, for comparing the film "Nezha" to the October 7th massacre. Braslavski posted on his X account that Golan is "not normal" and demanded he condemn the filmmakers. Golan had released a video that drew parallels between the film and the October 7th attacks, using it to criticize Prime Minister Netanyahu.

Braslavski's criticism comes after Golan's party members also avoided condemning the film when questioned. Gabi Lasky, a member of the Democrats, stated that it is easy to justify human rights violations during wartime, but there is also a duty to ask questions and set boundaries, which she described as the essence of democracy. She added that the discourse surrounding "Nezha," which she had not seen, offers a glimpse into what should not happen, and that violent discourse against creators must stop, as must the silencing of works that raise ethical questions.

This is not the first time Braslavski has criticized Golan. Approximately a month prior, Braslavski condemned the music used in a campaign video targeting the Arab public, noting that the same melody was heard by the terrorists who held him captive and tortured him in Gaza. He expressed disbelief that an Israeli Knesset member would use the same music as his captors.
