Maccabi Tel Aviv has officially parted ways with midfielder Ben Lederman after just one season in Israel. The club said his contribution “on and off the field” was highly appreciated, and wished him success in the next stage of his career.
Lederman, who joined Maccabi Tel Aviv as a free agent last July after being released by Rakow, is returning to Poland. He will play for newly promoted top-flight club Wieczysta Krakow. During his time in Tel Aviv, he was described by the club as professional, committed and dedicated.
His spell at Maccabi did not turn out as planned. He made only 18 appearances in all competitions, most of them in Champions League qualifying and the Europa League. In the Israeli league, he appeared in just four matches, totaling 75 minutes, and in recent months he was mostly on the bench.
Wieczysta is rebuilding heavily ahead of its first season in the top division and has already released no fewer than 12 players, including Michał Pazdan. Lederman signed a two-year contract with an option for one more season and is expected to anchor the midfield of coach Kazimierz Moskal, formerly of Hapoel Tel Aviv and Ironi Ashdod. The club’s first official match is set for July 24 against Radomiak Radom.
