Ben Lederman may leave Maccabi Tel Aviv after just one season and return to Poland, according to a report published Friday morning in the Polish press. The 26-year-old midfielder is said to be close to joining newly promoted top-flight side Wieczysta Krakow.
Lederman moved to Maccabi Tel Aviv last July as a free agent after being released by Rakow. He has struggled to secure a regular role, making 18 appearances in total this season, most of them in the Europa League and Champions League qualifying rounds.
In the Israeli league, Lederman played only four matches and logged 75 minutes. Because of that limited role, Wieczysta is reportedly interested in signing him as part of its rebuild ahead of its return to the Polish top division.
Wieczysta recently released 12 players from last season and is trying to strengthen its squad for the new campaign. The club is coached by Kazimierz Moskal, who previously played in Israel for Hapoel Tel Aviv and Hapoel Ashdod.
