Basketball-Reference Predicts More Efficient Season for Deni Avdija

As the NBA season approaches, Basketball-Reference has released its projections for various players, including Israeli forward Deni Avdija. The algorithm forecasts Avdija to become a more efficient player in the upcoming season, despite potentially playing fewer minutes.

The projections, calculated per 36 minutes, estimate Avdija will average 23.5 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 6.2 assists. This represents a significant jump in efficiency, with predicted field goal percentage rising from 46.2% to 47.4% and three-point percentage from 31.8% to 34%. His effective field goal percentage is expected to increase from 40.6% last season to 53.3% next season. He is also projected to take fewer trips to the free-throw line.

Last season, Avdija played an average of 33.3 minutes per game and missed 16 games. The projections suggest a slight decrease in assists per 36 minutes (6.2 compared to 7.2) and an increase in turnovers (3.6 compared to 4.1), but overall efficiency is expected to improve. His free-throw percentage is projected to remain high at 79.6%, slightly down from 80.2% last year.
