Police Arrest Suspect in Kiryat Shmona Car Theft and Crash

Israeli police have arrested a 41-year-old man from Toura'a al-Zangariya suspected of stealing a vehicle from Kiryat Shmona. According to a police statement, officers from the Northern District apprehended the suspect minutes after he crashed the stolen car into a parked vehicle near Rosh Pina. The incident began on September 26, when police received a report of a vehicle theft in Kiryat Shmona. The suspect allegedly stole the car after its owner entered a store. Northern District officers located the vehicle on Route 90 heading south and ordered the driver to stop, but he refused and drove recklessly. The suspect then entered a dead-end street near Rosh Pina, lost control, and collided with a parked car. He attempted to flee again but was blocked by arriving police. During the arrest, police suspected the man was driving under the influence of drugs. He was taken to the hospital for a blood test, which confirmed the presence of narcotics. The suspect's detention was extended, and prosecutors have since filed charges against him in the Kiryat Shmona Magistrate's Court. The charges include vehicle theft, reckless driving, driving under the influence of drugs, and driving without a license.
