Hadera to Open First Rehabilitative Daycare for Disabled Toddlers
Hadera is set to establish its first rehabilitative daycare center for toddlers with disabilities and developmental delays, a project estimated to cost approximately 18 million shekels. The cornerstone for the new facility was laid in a ceremony attended by city officials, representatives from the Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs and Social Services, and parents of children with special needs.
The daycare, spearheaded by the Hadera Development Fund and co-funded by the municipality and the Ministry of Welfare, will be located between Golani and Nahal brigades streets. It aims to provide professional educational, therapeutic, and rehabilitative services within the city, eliminating the need for local families to travel elsewhere for such care.
The facility will feature four classrooms, two for children with multiple disabilities and two for communication disorders. It will also include specialized rooms for physiotherapy, sensory therapy, speech therapy, and consultation spaces for a nurse and dietitian. Accessible design principles have been integrated throughout the building and its surroundings to accommodate the needs of the children, their families, and the professional staff.
The construction project is expected to take about 15 months to complete. The daycare is seen as a significant addition to the city's services for children with disabilities, offering a comprehensive support system close to home. Mayor Nir Ben-Haim stated that the center represents a vital response to the needs of these children and their families, emphasizing the city's commitment to equal opportunities from an early age.
